Solar Plexus, Heart, & Throat Chakras

Continuing up the body and through the primary chakras, today we will look a little harder at the solar plexus, heart, and throat chakras. If you missed our social media posts about these, you can always go back or find the same information here. 

Solar Plexus
Located just above the belly button, the solar plexus chakra (Manipura) is associated with personal power, decision making, and identity.
When this chakra is open and balanced, you will be energetic, productive, confident, and able to power through difficult tasks and days. When this chakra is closed or out of balance, you may find that you are often tired, indecisive, or unable to will yourself to do things.  When overactive, you might be competitive, overly active, or or stubborn. Below are some associations with this chakra. 

Tea: Crystal Claritea
Crystals: Tiger's eye, topaz, citrine, amber 
Affirmations: I am motivated. I am not afraid to take time for myself. I can move past limitations. 
Essential Oils: Lemon, frankincense, fennel, lemongrass 
Color: Yellow

Heart
Appropriately located in the heart space, the heart chakra (anahata) relates to matters such as love, forgiveness, and compassion. 
When this chakra is open and balanced, you will feel compassion toward others, you will be able to forgive easily, and express your true feelings. When this chakra is closed, though, you may find yourself unable to forgive and hold grudges, afraid of being expressive, and overly demanding. When overactive, this chakra may lead us to smother others with our love, having high expectations, or experiencing jealousy. Listed below are some of the chakra's associations and tools that you can use to balance your root chakra. 

Tea: Moonbeam
Crystals: Malachite, emerald, green jade, amazonite  
Affirmations:  I am worthy of love. I honor my connections to others. I nurture my inner child. 
Essential Oils: Jasmine, eucalyptus, spearmint, ylang ylang
Color: Green

Throat
Found in the throat, the throat chakra (vishuddha) is linked to all things communication, honesty, and expression.
When this chakra is open and balanced, we will find ourselves able to clearly communicate our thoughts, give voice to our creative outlets, and present ourselves authentically without fear. When this chakra is closed or out of balance these topics may come with resistance. We are likely to fear being honest and letting people get to know us and have difficulty setting boundaries. When overactive, we may find ourselves speaking too much and listening too little, engaging in gossip or harmful speech patterns, and bulldozing others when they try to communicate with us. Listed below are some of this chakra's associations and tools that you can use to balance your root chakra. 

Tea: Cosmic Chai
Crystals: Turquoise, apatite, blue howlite 
Affirmations: I speak confidently. I am an active listener. I live an honest life. 
Essential Oils: Grapefruit, ylang ylang, ginger, blue tansy
Color: Blue
